All Wonderfurl Furled Leaders come in either 5' or 7 1/2 foot lengths.
They are available in monofilament or fluorocarbon and come in a variety of
colors, strengths and configurations depending upon the fishing situation and preferences of the
flyfisher.
Most of our furled leaders are offered with or without a small metal ring at the
tippet end of the leader.
Custom configurations are available on
request.
This premium leader has been engineered to give you unparalleled performance
and presentation on the water.
They have been developed over many years and now have evolved into the
best fly fishing leaders on the market.

Wonderfurl Leaders will greatly improve your casting
accuracy and your presentation from beginner to expert alike, which builds tremendous confidence the first time a
beginner uses them.
In the hands of a veteran fly caster you will swear
you are watching the movie “A River Runs through It”.

The least understood
element of a fly fisherman’s equipment is the leader. Anglers spend large sums of money on rods, reels, even
flylines, but place relatively little emphasis on the element of tackle that is second only to the fly in proximity
to their fish: the leader.
Most fly
Anglers spend less than $5 on a leader and then wonder why their aggregate system will not accomplish all the
things expected of it. It makes little sense to weaken a wonderful setup of equipment by forcing yourself to rely
on a cheap inferior leader.
Wonderfurl leaders are knotless and will efficiently transmit the energy of the cast every time
and because our furled leaders are knotless; there are fewer lump-and-bumps to get tangled
up.
Wonderfurl leaders are tapered and limp enough to turn over with the slightest energy,
resulting in a very straight presentation. With their streamlined taper and spiraled profile, Wonderfurl
Leaders are less affected by wind than other knotted leaders.
The weight distribution of the leader mimics the transition in a tapered fly line and has the
same effect, therefore aiding the leader in turning over.
Energy is what moves fly line, and the efficient transfer of that energy from the rod to the line
to the fly in the course of the cast is critical.
Tapered lines and furled leaders are more effective in transferring energy through the cast
because they use thicker, heavier, and stiffer line to move, and turnover, thinner lighter and more flexible
line.
This helps maintain line speed and makes casting easier. The transition from a fly line that
weighs several times that of the average leader material to the tippet and then the fly can be a major problem if
the wrong leader is used.

Standard tapered leaders do not adequately transfer the power of
the cast to the tippet and fly, often resulting in short or wayward casts, especially in windy conditions. This is
not the case with Wonderfurl leaders. If the leader is unable to turn over the fly, the line is possibly hinging or
has lost energy and is prematurely terminating in the collapse of the casting loop and possibly causing a tangled
mess.
The simplest way to minimize casting failure is to form a gradual
transition to the fly. This gradual transition of the leader is best done with the furled leader which will slow
the speed of the loop until it unfolds, and often presents the fly at the end of a series of S curves on the water,
allowing the fly to float without the added drag of the line.
The transitional taper of the Wonderfurl leaders is carefully
matched to the weight of your fly line so you will slow the speed of both the fly and the leader, which means you
won’t hit the water with a high impact splash.
Also, the taper of the leader will slow down the fly so that it
does not spin into a spiral or snap like a whip at the end of your backcast.

Wonderfurl Leaders Are Better!
Our ultimate furled leaders provide unmatched overstrike protection
because of their superior elasticity. Throw those shock tippets away!
Just hold the butt end in one hand and the fine tip in the other
hand. Now outstretch your arms and feel the natural resiliency built into this leader. Don’t loose that really big
fish of a lifetime in the last few feet of landing him when lots of pressure is applied.
With other types of leaders, your tippet will usually part ways with
that trophy when that much pressure is applied. Wonderfurl leaders absorb a lot of that energy which is not the
case with standard extruded tapered leaders, knotted hand-made leaders or the "Thread style" furled leaders that
some are making in their basement.

Our leaders have been engineered to give you unparalleled performance and presentation on the
water. The automated equipment we use to produce our leaders is strictly monitored during the production
process.
Wonderfurl leaders are carefully assembled to very strict tolerances which have been developed
and fine tuned over a span of many years. By automating what used to be a very labor intensive hand-made operation,
we have eliminated many of the inconsistent results found with other leaders.
We have assembled thousands of leaders over the years and never had one returned for a refund or
replacement! Don’t be fooled by others with inferior hand-made leaders who claim to make a quality
product.
Most furled leaders are tapered down only 3 times from the butt end to the tippet end. Wonderfurl
Leaders have a carefully designed 5-step taper with the best line available for the very best possible transfer of
power from your fly rod to the fly.
Keep in mind that not all furled leaders are created equal. Others have tried to duplicate our
leaders with marginal to poor results.
Wonderfurl multifilament furled
tapered leaders are superior to braided leaders which have a hollow center core which tends to soak up water.
The water-logged braided leader will sink and become heavy which affects casting performance.
Water spray will put down your fish on the pick up of your
line. Our furled leaders are different because the furling is accomplished by weaving, twisting (twining) and
looping almost 100 feet of premium line tightly, so it has no hollow core.
In short, since furled leaders have no hollow core, they don't absorb
water and therefore pick cleanly off the water. No “rooster tail” spray from this leader.
Wonderfurl Leaders are all-season durable and “wind knot” resistant
which is not the case with standard tapered monofilament style leaders.. Another important factor is that the lack
of memory, kinking and curling with our leaders will reduce the drag problems that are so commonly associated with
thick, stiff extruded knotless tapered leaders.
Also if desired, our multifilament leaders furled surface makes it
easy to apply line dressing for floating or sinking because these agents adhere much better than on a single-strand
monofilament style leaders.

Unlike other furled leaders on the
market, the loops at both ends of our leaders are intentionally made to collapse on your line to maximize a
non-hinging connection.
Our knotless leaders do not have a
thick rigid loop that can hang up in the guides and cause problems landing a fish. Most Wonderfurl Leaders
have a short extension attached to the small tippet loop of the furled leader to facilitate the easy changing of
tippet material. The extension remains permanently on the furled leader so all you need do is add your
tippet.
Tippet material is tied to the loop on
the extension rather than on the tippet-loop of the furled leader. Since tippet material is changed often, the use
of an extension protects the furled leader's tippet-loop from accidental damage when cutting off old
tippet.
The length of the tippet material tied
to the furled leader varies according to the angler's preference, but usually is three to six feet in
length.
The combination of tippet material and
our 7 1/2' leader produces an overall length of about 12'.
Unlike the standard "popcorn" produced extruded single strand
tapered leaders, you won’t have to worry about the leader breaking at the knot as the multiple strands at the loop
of our leaders will hold up to the sudden hard surges so common with larger fish.
Many customers tell us about the large fish over 20 pounds that are
caught on our 12 pound test furled leaders.
About
Fluorocarbon Leaders
Wonderfurl fluorocarbon leaders are soft, castable and made with the
best fluorocarbon material for wet strength known to us. Designed to refract light just like water, this
fluorocarbon line is virtually invisible to fish because it reflects less light (glare).
The less glare, the less visibile which equates to more fish. Also,
the furled surface is not as prone to glare as a single strand of monofilament would be because the weave of the
leader breaks up the reflected light.
Another advantage of fluorocarbon leaders is the resistance they have
to ultraviolet light degradation. Fluorocarbon is also tougher than nylon. This is due in part to its slickness, as
the line slides over rocks and obstacles with less resistance than nylon, reducing abrasion.
Fluorocarbon is twice as heavy as water and sinks about 1 1/2 inches
per second, so it is the perfect solution for nymph fishermen. Our ultimate fluorocarbon furled leaders just may be
the difference in clear water situations in which fish are highly pressured or “line shy.” Don't loose the fish of
a life time because of a weak link in your fly fishing arsenal.
